Activities Assistant

ACTIVITIES ASSISTANT

Job Description:

This position will assist the Activities and Training Coordinator in planning and executing campus activities to avoid scheduling conflicts and ensure rewarding experiences for residents.

  • Must have the ability to remain actively engaged with residents during structured and unstructured activities, and effectively form and maintain relationships with the residents.
  • Ability to be patient and understanding when dealing with difficult behaviors or situations.
  • Maintain empathetic approach when dealing with difficult behaviors or refusal to participate. Willingness to listen to and incorporate resident suggestions regarding activities and events.
  • Must have active and outgoing personality.
  • Ability to be cognizant and understanding of the effect childhood trauma has on a youth's behavior and cognitive functioning/decision making.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree preferred. Must have two to three (2-3) years of experience planning and implementing activities with youth, preferably youth with emotional and behavioral challenges. Experience working with kids in group settings preferred. Preferred experience participating in or leading a youth or adult choir.
