SAVE THE DATE: 10th Annual Light the Lake on April 13 celebrating three major anniversaries at BGHNC

Light the Lake 2024

Set your calendars for 1- 5 p.m. on April 13 to attend the 10th Light the Lake event celebrating child abuse prevention as well as the 25th anniversary of Foster Care and 20th anniversary of Adoption services at Boys & Girls Homes of North Carolina at the BGHNC Farm in Lake Waccamaw, N.C.

The largest Light the Lake event yet will feature bouncy houses, games, music from Southport's Mike's Garage Band, visits from Touch-A-Truck and Bikers Against Child Abuse, food vendors Pure Taste, Two Natives Smokehouse and Tied Up With Jesus and prizes. The traditional Lake Walk will begin at 5 p.m. Free to the public. Donations benefit the programs of care at BGHNC.

"With this event, we want to celebrate our anniversary milestones," said organizer and foster care consultant Sandy Wynn. "It is our hope that we have a big turn out of foster parents so that we can honor them and the wonderful job they do all year long. We want to involve the community to bring awareness to child abuse prevention, remember children who lost their lives to child abuse, and hopefully recruit more families who are willing to open their hearts and their homes to a child in need."
