Boys and Girls Homes and Carolyn's Kaleidoscope Child Advocacy Center certainly rocked Vineland Station Depot  May 1, 2026 for our third Kaleidoscope of Hope Soirée. With about 170 people supporting the event by attending, buying tables or sponsorships, Rep. Brenden Jones giving a rousing endorsement of the center’s impact in fighting for and finding justice for sexually and physically abused children, the event was a success. Auctioneer Mr. Floyd brought the fun and comedy with his rousing live auction, joking with bidders, CAC Director Danielle Nolan reminded us that the worry stones in our gift bags were all different like the children the CAC serves. Best of all, during our live auction, Nina Porch Goose has a great new home and Carl Porch Goose will be the new mascot of our CAC!. Thank you to everyone who came and gave to benefit the children served by Carolyn’s Kaleidoscope.
Here are photos from the event.

During Alumni Weekend, April 24-25, 2026, our BGHNC Alumni gathered to share stories, reconnect with friends and former staff members, eat together and meet the current residents living at our BGHNC campus. BGHNC alumni attended their 2026 Alumni Reunion from as far away as Georgia and Virginia and all points in between. They chatted and told stories, laughed and joked. The Distinguished Alumni for 2026 is Carmellia Webb, now the Director of Inter-Professional Education at Campbell University. Alumni Tawni Oberschelp honored her former Teaching Parent Molly Clements with a Difference Maker Award and former President and alumni Gary Faircloth got a Difference Maker Award for his dedication to BGHNC.

On April 14, 2026, foster care staff, foster families, local citizens and law enforcement gathered and carried candles for the 12th year of Light the Lake for a partial walk around Lake Waccamaw in honor of April as Child Abuse Awareness Month.

On March 28, Lions Clubs, Jaycees, Rotary and Kiwanis clubs gathered on Boys & Girls Homes campus for the 2026 Spring Civic Club Day, a day filled with fun games with our residents, tours of their cottages, an engaging lunch and time for giving.
