Boys & Girls Homes bringing Brighter Futures thank you breakfast to Pinehurst supporters

Boys & Girls Homes is traveling to Pinehurst for a big thank you event for its longtime supporters and friends. The Pinehurst Brighter Futures Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 28 at the Carolina Hotel in Pinehurst is meant to be a “friend-raiser” to thank longtime supporters and friends in the Pinehurst, Sandhills, Southern Pines and Aberdeen region for their friendship to the organization. The breakfast is free to previous supporters of the organization.

“With this breakfast series, we really wanted to give back to people who have consistently given to us,” said Marc Murphy, President & CEO of Boys & Girls Homes.

The Brighter Futures Breakfast Pinehurst will include a buffet breakfast in the Cardinal Room of Carolina Hotel, a program updating supporters on how BGHNC programs have grown and expanded, local speakers and BGHNC alumni speaking about their experience as residential youth.

The Brighter Futures Breakfast Pinehurst was organized by a group of Sandhills community and civic club leaders alongside BGHNC staff hoping to create more area annual fundraising events for the organization in the future, since the organization supports Sandhills area youth in its programs of care.

“I’ve done many activities with Boys & Girls Homes. We had a fantastic golf tournament for many years. We’re getting re-organized and letting people know about Boys & Girls Homes, and we hope you will be a supporter of this great organization,” said Ron Jones, a BGHNC Board of Trustees member and NC West Optimist Club member.

“Our new saying in Kiwanis recently comes from Frederick Douglas who once said: ‘It’s easier to raise a strong child than to repair a broken man,’” said Kathryn Doddridge, a breakfast committee member and President of Sandhills Kiwanis. “And isn’t that what you’re all about at Boys & Girls Homes?”
