BGHNC welcomes Glen Locklear as Chief Campus-Based Services Officer

Last month, Boys & Girls Homes hired Glen Locklear as its Chief Campus-Based Services Officer in charge of Residential group homes, Clinical services, Equine Therapy and Superintendent of Thomas Academy.

Glen comes to us armed with 30 years of teaching and administrative experience in school systems across North Carolina and most recently New Hanover County Schools where he was Assistant Principal at Eugene Ashley High School, founding Principal at J.C. Rowe Academy and Director of Student for the district.

Glen has spent his first month learning the rhythm of the cottages, Teaching Parent duties and observing the school and its needs.

"There's a strong sense of community and mission here," he said. "I can see that people are here for the right reasons, and the children are the priority."

Glen has been spending time having one-on-one and group conversations so he can build processes to make our on-campus programs of care more efficient.

"I want to build relationships with the staff so I can support them in being successful in the work they do with children every day," Glen said adding that's what's important right now is learning about how Boys & Girls Homes runs before making any changes.

For fun, Glen has a rare love of yard work. It's his stress reliever.

He also enjoys spending time with his teenage son and going to watch his elder son play basketball at Washington and Lee University in Virginia.
