Ribbon cutting for equine therapy offices launches a new era for BGHNC programs of care

About 45 people attended a ribbon cutting and open house for the Boys & Girls Homes Community Equine Therapy Services in the Ricky and Dianne Benton Hitching Post on the Farm on April 2.

State, county and town officials attended the event as well as Grayson Overholt, a regional representative from U.S. Senator Thom Tillis' office. Equine specialist Amanda Thompson spoke about how the horses help clients see themselves differently. Our Equine Mental Health Specialist and Clinician Bethany Hart explained how the Eagala model of equine therapy is a team approach including the horses in the therapy team along with an equine specialist and mental health specialist.

Watch a video here of the open house.
