16 years and counting - American Legion benefit ride is still growing

We are so grateful to the American Legion riders who have continued a friendly competition over the past 16 years riding out to Boys & Girls Homes from all around North Carolina and raising more than $100,000 for the agency.

American Legion rider and organizer Rora Kellis told the crowd that the issue of preventing child abuse kept the motorcycle riders coming back.“Don’t mess with a kid around a biker,” he said. “If you even come down here once, you’ll come back every year.”

CVMA NC 15-13 Silver Coast Chapter has spearheaded the Brunswick County organization of the ride for the past few years, said Frank Bellini. "We are happy to have been a part of this ride and look forward to supporting this fundraiser for the kids for many more years."

Tom Cerniglia, American Legion Commander for North Carolina, joined the gathering for the first time and spoke about how proud he was of the American Legion's commitment to raising money for the children in care with Boys & Girls Homes. This year, the more than 150 riders and different motorcycle clubs raised $8910. Amazing!
