
At the August Boys & Girls Homes Board of Trustees meeting, President Marc Murphy presented a memorial resolution to BGHNC Board Member Jess Hill and his family in honor of his late father James Earl Hill, Jr., a long-time member of the BGHNC Board of Trustees and supporter of Boys & Girls Homes.
The text of the memoriam tells the story of a man who was truly dedicated to supporting and promoting BGHNC in service of the youth of North Carolina. May his memory be a blessing.
The memoriam states, in part:
"In Memoriam of James Earl Hill Jr. . . .
WHEREAS, he was ever conscious of his duty to his community and his fellow man as evidenced by his support and participation in numerous organizations and activities throughout Columbus County and North Carolina; and,
WHEREAS, he served on the Boys and Girls Homes’ Board of Trustees and Emeritus Board for a combined twenty-two years with exemplary dedication and commitment through his involvement as a member of the Organizational Advancement Committee, Strategic Long-Range Planning Committee, Finance Committee and Executive Committee; and,
WHEREAS, his abiding concern for the welfare of unfortunate children never wavered and, toward that end, he exhibited his support both in his professional life and his association with this organization; and,
WHEREAS, his foresight and commitment to the development of Boys and Girls Homes has provided immeasurable assistance of time, talent and treasures to the children and families of North Carolina; and,
WHEREAS, to proudly and humbly commemorate the eternal influence of this beloved associate;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees of Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina, Inc. at its meeting held at Lake Waccamaw on August 23, 2025, does bow its head in silent prayer of thanksgiving unto God for the life and unselfish service of James Earl Hill, Jr., and in loving memory of this devoted friend; and that a copy of this Resolution be presented to his family whose sorrow we share and to whom we extend our deepest sympathy.
